Chris holds degrees from both the universities of Exeter and London. His MA thesis examined sixteenth-century book collecting and the emergence of the private library.  Before Maggs he worked for Bonhams auctioneers in Knightsbridge. Since joining Maggs in 2009 he has worked on both the STC (1475-1640) and Wing (1641-1700) catalogues of books from the library of James Stevens-Cox. Chris was born in Yorkshire but now lives in London.
